The 515 metre trip at Hove often proves too short for DROOPYS ELMA with the February 15 daughter of Mall Brandy doing her best work in the closing stages! But the step back up in trip for last night’s Heat 2 of the MAIDEN STAYERS Open competition proved ideal! Tracking the leader from the off ‘Elma’ kept on well and leading near the line she beat the Wayne Wrighting trained Ashwood Telly by a short-head with Ricky Holloway’s Airmount Panther a further short-head away in 3rd! Owned by Norah McEllistrim Droopys Elma clocked 42.28 (Normal) when winning for the 5th time at Hove and in this kind of form she should have every chance in next Thursday’s Final!

How Our Other Runners Fared
FANORE FLYER was never headed when beating Newinn Hulk by just over a length in a D1 Sprint last Sunday and the April 15 son of Vans Escalade owned by Steve Keay was now racing in Open class for the first time! Sent off a 5/2 shot for the MAIDEN SPRINT Open at 6-28 he held every chance and clocking 16.67 (Normal) he finished in 4th place beaten just 3/4 of a length by Ohmakneeliz (Doreen Walsh) & Jota El Ray (Matt Dartnall) who ‘dead-heated’ for 1st place!
SPIDERMAN beat Stellars Avenger by 3/4 of a length in last weeks Heats to book his place in last nights HOVE THURSDAY 500 SPRINT Final! An 8/1 chance the June 14 son of Razldazl Jayfkay owned by Mr J. Ford showed good early pace but racing wide on the run-in he clocked 16.51 (Normal) when finishing 3rd beaten six lengths by the impressive winner Broadstrand Kiwi who is trained by Paul Young.
SIZZLERS HAWK was a 6/1 chance for Heat 1 of the HOVE THURSDAY 500 Competition run over 475 metres at 8-52. Although quick away the July 14 son of Vans Escalade owned by Dave Cook and Joy Cook faded to finish in 5th place clocking 28.30 (Normal) when beaten just under nine lengths by Jaytee Spartacus who is trained by Paul Young. Kennel mate BALIBO MAGS was the 33/1 outsider and the July 14 daughter of Razldazl Rioga owned by the Norah Mac Racing Mags syndicate was always behind after a bump at the 1st bend! Clocking 28.56 (Normal) ‘Mags’ finished in 6th place beaten twelve lengths by the winner.
OBEY THE RULES was a 20/1 chance for Heat 2 of the HOVE THURSDAY 500 Competition run over 475 metres at 9-07. Always in rear the November 13 son of Westmead Hawk owned by Dr H. Ngan finished in 5th place clocking 28.20 (Normal) when beaten just over six lengths by the Matt Dartnall trained winner Humphreys Pride.
MY SPICE was a 6/1 chance for the D3 Sprint at 7-01 and although making a fast start the July 14 daughter of Lenson Bolt suffered crowding on the run-in! Clocking 17.07 (Normal) she finished in 6th place beaten just over five lengths by Wheres Junior who is trained by Seamus Cahill.
A 7/2 shot for the A6 at 7-16 FOREVER MICK was soon in rear and finishing in 6th place the June 15 son of Tullymurry Act clocked 31.12 (Normal) when beaten just under seven lengths by the Wayne Wrighting trained winner Suirview Boris.
MANNIX MOLAURA was a 2/1 fancy for the D3 Sprint at 7-32 where the September 15 daughter of Scolari Me Daddy held every chance clocking 17.10 (Normal) she finished in 2nd place beaten two lengths by Killeacle Simba who is trained by Ken Tester.
