ATHLACCA  OLYMPIC   AND   HANOVER  LADY  ARE BACK TO WINNING WAYS!

It was fitting on the closing day for entries to the Norah Mac Racing Club Competition, to predict the date when the Club would reach its 100th winner, that the Clubs leading scorer – Hanover Lady – should return to winning ways! Taking the Club total to 88 wins just twelve short of the Century! Another worthy winner today was Athlacca Olympic who has competed in either A1, A2 or Open races since his last win in December. He deserved his win and its great to see this pair get their heads back in front!

Sunday 6th April HOVE Report

Winners

ATHLACCA OLYMPIC last won in December of last year but he has competed at the highest level since. He returned to winning ways in the A2 at 12-12 when he beat the Jason Heath trained Swift Escalade by 3/4 of a length. Sent off at a decent 5/1 starting price the August 2011 son of Black Shaw was quick away and always led clocking 30.27 (-10) 30.17 calculated to win his 5th Hove race for owner Julie Hillier. It was a 7th career win for Athlacca Olympic who has a win at Shelbourne Park and a win at Drumbo Park on his Irish card!

HANOVER LADY – Where do you start? 116 Races – 24 Wins! The February 2009 daughter of Hondo Black came back from seasonal rest mid February and has taken her time to reach peak fitness but she holds her form well and should now be competitive in the weeks ahead! Owned by the Norah Mac Racing Club she showed early pace to lead at the first bend and beat the Maria Collins trained Toots Too by 1/2 a length in the D1 sprint at 12-41. “Wendy” clocked 16.75 (-5) 16.70 calculated when winning for the first time since last October! Hanover Lady is the Racing Clubs most prolific winner with 18 wins at Hove and 6 wins at Wimbledon on her card! The kennel had two other runners in this event and they both found trouble in running. On Your Lonesome was crowded at half way and clocked 16.87 (-5) 16.82 calculated when finishing in 4th place. While  Droopys Winnie was very slow away and baulked at the second bend before clocking 17.12 (-5) 17.07 calculated in 6th place.

When CELLINI gets on the bunny she is useful and difficult to pass. She was quick away in the A4 at 1-28 and led all the way for a one length win over the Dean Childs trained Fatboyz Billie. The January 2011 daughter of Head Bound, owned by the Norahmacjestic Six, clocked 30.55 (-20) 30.35 calculated when winning for the sixth time at Hove.

How Our Other Runners Fared

Sporting Tracey put in another sound effort in the A3 at 1-44 when runner-up to the Claude Gardiner trained winner Clairekeith Will. ‘Tracey’ was sent off the 5/2 co favourite of three and was baulked early but ran on strongly to finish 2nd beaten just over two lengths clocking 30.76 (-20) 30.56 calculated.

The Racing Club was double handed at the meeting with Classy Molly running in the A7 at 12-27. ‘Molly’ was sent off a 6/1 shot and her chance was affected when crowded on the run in as she stayed on to challenge. She finished in 3rd place clocking 31.03 (-10) 30.93 calculated just under 3 lengths behind the Wendy Short trained winner All Excuses.

Glenvale Paddy was badly baulked at the second bend and finished in third place behind the Derek Knight trained Pablos Antics in the A9 at 11-42. ‘Paddy’ clocked 31.26 (-20) 31.06 calculated just under six lengths behind the winner.

Graiguenoe Royal is a pretty consistent sort and put in another decent effort when 4th beaten just under three lengths by the Derek Knight trained Jazz Diamond in the A5 at 11-57. Graiguenoe Royal clocked a respectable 30.64 (-10) 30.54 calculated.

We had three runners in the A6 at 1-12 and it was Mikeys Guest who came out on top of our trio but he finished in 3rd place to the Doreen Walsh trained Janes Blaze. Mikeys Guest was crowded at the first and second bends and clocked 30.85 (-10) 30.75 calculated. Droopys Bertha showed early pace but was crowded at the first bend and again at the 3/4 mark before finishing in 4th place clocking 31.00 (-10) 30.90 calculated. Swift Debbie, who had gone in as a late replacement, was 5th in this race clocking 31.15 (-10) 31.05 calculated after making a slow start and being crowded at the first two bends!

Ballymac Dainty tracked round in second place for most of the way and held every chance in the A4 at 1-58. She finished 4th clocking 30.77 (-20) 30.57 calculated just over four lengths behind the winner Ashington Adam trained by Claude Gardiner.

An injury to Edo Empress in the A10 at 11-28  was the only downer on another good day for the kennel. She was crowded on the run up and crowded and checked wide at the first bend and was beaten a distance. Assistant Trainer Gemma Byford reported that she has injured a wrist and will need rest but she was ok.
