Winners
CELLINI justified her 6/4 favourite odds when she followed up last weeks win (as predicted by the Racing Post) on Sunday. The January 2011 daughter of Head Bound was quick away and racing rails to middle led all the way in the A4 at 12-41. Owned by the Norahmacjestic Six she held off the staying on Sandro who is trained by Derek Knight by a head! Cellini clocked a decent 30.45 (-20) 30.25 calculated when winning for the 8th time at Hove!
BLAZING SWALLOW defied the rise in grade when winning the A7 at 1-12 and followed up her win of last weekend in good style. The January 2011 daughter of Blackstone Gene was quick away and racing middle to wide always led when beating the Seamus Cahill trained Lagile Lucy by two and three quarter lengths! The 7/2 shot clocked 30.77 (-20) 30.57 calculated. Blazing Swallow is owned by Ross Banner, Martin McKinley, Mike McKinley and Dave Staddon and was winning her 7th race at Hove!
DROOPYS BRODY has had his problems and missed all of March/April and most of May but he gained his first win since February when taking the A5 at 11-42. The January 2011 son of Ace Hi Rumble came from off the pace to lead on the run-in and beat the Claude Gardiner trained Solid Tempo by one and a half lengths! ‘Brody’ clocked 30.75 (-20) 30.55 calculated and returned at decent odds of 9/2. Owned by Ross Banner, Gary Maunders and Dave Staddon ‘Brody’ was winning for the 8th time at Hove. With a Sittingbourne Open win and a Swindon Bags Championship victory on his card he was recording his 10th career win! Kennel mate Droopys Leonard, running for the Norah Mac Racing Club, held every chance and clocked 31.04 (-20) 30.84 calculated when finishing in 5th place three and a half lengths behind the winner.
INTAYACYNTHIA has only won once this year but has been knocking on the door with a string of recent 2nd places and close up efforts! She finally got her head back in front again today when staying on to lead at the fourth bend for a 1/2 length win over the Claude Gardiner trained Baron Knights. The October 2010 daughter of Kryptonite clocked 30.82 (-20) 30.62 calculated when winning the A6 at 1-28. Owned by Trevor Cooper, Andy Emms, Silvie Tubbritt and Ray Wheeler the 3/1 shot was not unfancied and was winning her 3rd race at Hove. She also has an Irish win at Drumbo Park on her card!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Farloe Scolari was sent off the 10/1 outsider for the D1 at 11-11 and put himself under pressure from the start with a slow break. He was crowded at the first bend and was beaten five lengths by the Wendy Short trained winner How Zat. He clocked 16.91 (-10) 16.81 calculated in 6th place.
Avit On Beryl had a nasty experience in the A8 at 11-28 when she was crowded at the start and baulked and fell at the first bend. She was beaten a distance but travelling head lad Tim Rowell reported from the track that ‘Beryl’ appeared to be fine! She will be fully checked over on her return to the kennel. The race was won by the Paul Garland trained Bandit Timmy.
