In Form “Swift Messi” Wins Again At Hove!
SWIFT MESSI DOUBLES UP ON LAST SATURDAY’S WIN!
Sunday 16th March HOVE Report
Winner
Dianne and Alf Benson are celebrating as the ever young SWIFT MESSI wins for them again! The September 2009 son of Hondo Black has been in brilliant form this year, with a string of second places, he now has two wins to his credit! Sent off the 7/4 joint favourite he beat his market rival to ‘double up’ last Saturdays win! Showing early pace ‘Lionel’ led all the way in the A8 at 12-41 to beat the Claude Gardiner trained Other Bishop a Head clocking 30.85 (-30) 30.55 calculated. This was a 18th career win for The Glum Sinners owned dog! The career stats of “Lionel” are impressive with 121 races completed he has now won 18 and been runner-up 35 times!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Apart from Swift Messi most of our runners struggled today and Racing Club greyhound Droopys Leonard was involved in a particularly rough race when he contested the A4 at 1-28. Lenny was slow away and very badly bumped at the first bend when he tangled with Questhouse Rocky and Katies Causeway (who fell) and trailed in twenty lengths behind the winner. After the race Droopys Leonard was seen by the vet and Assistant Trainer Gemma Byford reported that “Lenny had received a bad cut just below his hock down to his toes and has had the injury stitched but he is ok”.
Princess Jetta was prominent early and held every chance in the A7 at 11-11 but she faded to finish 5th clocking 31.35 (-30) 31.05 calculated.
We had three runners in the D1 sprint at 11-28 and Philly Eagle fared best of the trio when he was a running on 3rd clocking 16.70 (-15) 16.55 calculated. Club greyhound Hanover Lady is not yet back to her best but ran well enough in 4th after showing early pace. Wendy clocked 16.87 (-15) 16.72 calculated. On Your Lonesome was slow away and finished 6th clocking 17.00 (-15) 16.85 calculated.
Judicial Babe ran with credit in the A9 at 11-42 despite finishing 4th. She was held up in her run when crowded at the second and fourth bends but was beaten under two lengths by the Maria Collins trained winner Berkshire Hodgo. Judicial Babe clocked 31.32 (-30) 31.02 calculated.
Westmead Louisa also suffered trouble in running in the A10 at 11-57 when she was baulked at the first and third bends. She was beaten around five lengths back in 5th place clocking 31.84 (-30) 31.54 calculated.
Lobelia came in as reserve in the A5 at 12-27 but was crowded at the 1/4 mark and second bend! She was beaten around seven lengths in 6th place clocking 31.15 (-30) 30.85 calculated.
