Swift Messi – In brilliant winning form!
Veteran SWIFT MESSI is in superb form and running as well as ever! He thrives on his racing and the September 2009 son of Hondo Black made it 4 wins from his last 6 races when winning the D2 Sprint at 12-12. Lining up for his 182nd race ‘Lionel’ was notching up an amazing 30th win at the seaside track! Owned by the Glum Sinners syndicate he was sent off the 5/2 joint favourite and despite suffering crowding he led near the line to beat the Paul Garland trained Valeria by a Short-Head clocking 16.78 (-15) 16.63 calculated. Kennel mate Fanore Breeze had got away better than Lionel but was baulked at the first bend and crowded on the run-in and finished in 6th place clocking 17.08 (-15) 16.93 calculated almost four lengths behind the winner.
How Our Other Runners Fared
Kizi was a 4/1 chance for the D1 Sprint at 11-11 but he made a slow start and suffered crowding at the second bend and was beaten three and a half lengths by the Seamus Cahill trained winner Get On Speedy. Always behind Kizi clocked 16.94 (-15) 16.79 calculated finishing in 5th place.
Baby Gold found trouble at the second bend in the A4 at 12-27 where she was baulked and stumbled! She had no chance from that point on and clocked 31.25 (-30) 30.95 calculated when finishing in 6th place beaten five lengths by the Paul Garland trained winner Beatties Titch.
Windy Warrior made most of the running in the A7 at 1-44 but faded to finish in 4th place! He showed good early pace and led to the fourth bend clocking 31.11 (-30) 30.81 calculated but was beaten just one and a half lengths by the Wendy Short trained winner Droopys Port.
