Our dogs have been in fine form lately but it was a night of knocks and bruises for our runners with Gelert The Great taking a tumble and it was only Marys Boy who got a decent sort of run to finish 2nd in the last race!

SIZZLERS DIAMOND stepped up to Open class for the first time in the VISIT CORAL.CO. UK STANDARD Open race over 515 metres on the 7th August. Clocking 30.90 calculated he finished 5th beaten six lengths by the Simon Harms trained winner Southern Henri. The March 14 son of Head Bound who is owned by Dave Cook & Dave Staddon ran much better in A1 grade last Saturday where he was quick away and finished a good 2nd to Slaheny King. Despite suffering crowding at the first bend Sizzlers Diamond clocked a decent 30.39 (Normal) when beaten just 3/4 of a length by the winner and was sent off the 6/4 joint-favourite for the HOVE MAIDEN Open race over 515 metres at 7-01. In a ‘messy’ race full of bumping and crowding Sizzlers Diamond clocked 30.84 calculated when finishing 3rd beaten just a length by the Wendy Short trained winner Wideawakejohn.

BADMOONRISING clocked 16.93 calculated when finishing 5th beaten seven and a half lengths by the David Pruhs trained Laughing Gravy in a CORAL SPRINT Open race at Hove on the 21st July. The August 12 son of Ace Hi Rumble was a 7/4 fancy back in graded action for a D1 Sprint on the 6th August but he was baulked at the first bend and finished in 4th place clocking 16.91 (Normal) when beaten five lengths by Jackals Pavlova. Owned by Mick McCrory & Debbie Williams Badmoonrising was a 7/1 chance for the CORAL BACKS CHILDREN WITH CANCER 475 Open race at 7-31. Crowded and checked on the run-up he clocked 28.12 calculated when finishing in 5th place beaten just under four lengths by the Maxine Locke trained winner Alfjack.

GELERT THE GREAT suffered crowding at the first bend in an A7 last Friday! Finishing in 4th place the May 14 son of Westmead Hawk clocked 30.66 calculated when beaten just over three lengths by Portumna Flower and he was made 5/2 second-favourite for the A7 at 8-37. Unfortunately he was brought down by the trap 5 runner Ragna who had fallen at the first bend! Beaten a distance Gelert The Great finished in 6th place and he will be fully checked over at the kennels today.

SIZZLERSCHEYENNE has been in top form! The August 12 son of Hondo Black led all the way to beat Forest Fuseler by two lengths in a D1 Sprint on the 3rd August! He clocked a very decent 16.43 calculated in that success and was back in Open company for the CORAL BACKS CHILDREN WITH CANCER 475 Open race on the 7th August. Showing good early pace he led all the way to beat the Paul Young trained Bubbly Zeus by 3/4 of a length! Sizzlerscheyenne clocked 27.88 calculated when winning his 15th race at Hove and was on a ‘hat-trick’ for the D1 Sprint at 8-51. A 5/2 chance he was baulked at the first bend after making a slow start! Clocking 17.03 (-20) 16.83 calculated he finished in 4th place beaten seven lengths by the Jason Heath trained winner Swift Watson.

MARYS BOY clocked 17.05 calculated when a close 2nd to Apple Buttons in a D2 Sprint on the 7th August. The June 14 son of Razldazl Jayfkay stumbled at the start on his latest run and clocked 17.20 (Normal) when finishing in 6th place beaten almost five lengths by Dark Sky. Marys Boy was given a drop in grade for the D3 Sprint at 9-22 and was made the 6/4 favourite! Slow away he was baulked at the first bend but recovered at the second to lead to the run-in clocking 17.17 (-15) 17.02 calculated when beaten just 1/2 a length by the Paul Garland trained winner Forever Man.
