NO WINNERS BUT SOME GOOD PEFORMANCES ON SATURDAY NIGHT!

Saturday 23rd August HOVE Report

Mikeys Guest has had his problems during his career and is only lightly raced. He was returning from injury for the A5 at 8-18 and he shaped well to be runner-up. Quick away he led to the fourth bend and went down bravely by only 3/4 of a length to the fitter Seagrave Sam who is trained by Jason Heath. ‘Mikey’ clocked 30.82 (-10) 30.72 calculated in 2nd place.

Droopys Bertha was sent off the 7/4 favourite for the A7 at 9-57. Racing wide she ran on well to finish 2nd one and a half lengths behind the Paul Garland trained Newtown Skipnula. ‘Bertha’ clocked 30.86 (-10) 30.76 calculated and has now been the runner-up in her last four races!

Zara Two showed his good early pace and led to the 1/4 mark in a decent A1 at 10-30. He stayed on well enough finishing in 4th place but he was only beaten one length! Our 9/2 shot clocked 30.37 (-10) 30.27 calculated behind the Claude Gardiner trained winner Droopys Flash.

Avit On Beryl was a 5/2 chance for the A6 at 8-02 and she ran pretty well despite crowding on the run-in to clock 30.78 (-10) 30.68 calculated when finishing in 4th place. ‘Beryl’ was beaten three lengths by the winner Newtown Skiprob who is trained by Paul Garland.

Granson Luca has been in fine form lately with three wins from his last four runs and although he held every chance in the A8 at 8-51 he was unable to add to his win tally this time! A 4/1 chance ‘Luca’ clocked 31.03 (-10) 30.93 calculated in 5th place three lengths behind the Claude Gardiner trained winner Baran Iowa.

Our two runners in the A4 at 8-34 were both baulked on the run-up and suffered crowding at the first bend in a messy race! Baby Sky was made the 5/2 joint favourite and clocked 31.04 (-10) 30.94 calculated finishing 3rd around eight lengths behind the Wayne Wrighting trained winner Kangen Spirit. Hands Over Eyes was making his Hove debut and he will have better times. He clocked 31.36 (-10) 31.26 calculated in 5th place a further four lengths behind his kennel mate.

Coolavanny Keira has been in good form recently but despite showing good early pace to lead to the second bend in the A9 at 9-07 she was crowded at the 3/4 mark and dropped away to finish nine lengths behind the Derek Knight trained Maui Lahaina. ‘Keira’ clocked 31.55 (-10) 31.45 finishing in 6th place.
