Trials (Hove)

Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) and Lenny (Droopys Leonard) are scheduled to have their final trials on Thursday. An update will be posted once the results are known.  All things being equal they are likely to be strutting their stuff in competition around the Nevill Road circuit as early as next weekend.

Preview

The curtain falls on our graders at Plough Lane this weekend.  After a slow start there’s little doubt we’ve had more than our fair share of wins these past eight months or so.

Again, this weekend, all our active club runners get a taste of the action though all are again pretty much handicapped to their limits. Wendy (Hanover Lady) faces up to A1 competition in the 815pm on Friday, later in the evening Horse (Horse Outside) contests the finale in another A1. Both are fit as fleas, having trialled well enough at Hove on Monday. That said Wendy really struggles to see out the trip at this level. Horse, on the other hand, need only return to something close to his best to have a decent shout (especially against the classy Snowy Crystal in stripes) – maybe the change of scenery on Monday will sharpen him up.

Regarding Friday’s card; good luck to club member Nigel Roberts who celebrates both one hundred runs with his ‘star’ Incredible Miss and Cameron, his son’s, birthday.

Saturday has the club’s final graded runner at Plough Lane with Oscar (Lima Oscar) having another crack at A2 level.  As with our other runners he’s highly tried but not entirely without a squeak if he runs to his best.

Social and mini competition (sponsored by Bob & Sam Hadley)

There’s nothing firm to report regarding anything special for Saturday’s ‘last hurrah.’ Hopefully they’ll be a good turn out as the kennel has a full card of runners on the night – kennel stalwart Rally Town flies the flag as the final fling in the finale.

It’s possible their may be something laid on in the restaurant area but don’t rely on it. After all it’s business as usual in many respects, notwithstanding it’s an end of an era for Norah at Wimbledon.

Messrs Bob and Sam Hadley have kindly put together a competition within the kennel for a bit of fun. It’s simply a raffle. Which of the kennel strength will be Norah’s first and second graded winner at our new home?

All likely contenders, as of last Sunday, are in the hat and a £2 entry buys a lucky dip chance of having an interest in which greyhound makes kennel history. Full details and entry tickets are on the notice board in the Owners’ Lounge. Entries up to and including Bank Holiday Monday.

First prize is 50% of the prize pool (likely to be a prize of £40), second prize a (decent sized hopefully) Easter Egg. The remaining 50% of the prize pool will be shared between the Wimbledon Welfare and Norah’s Kennel Staff Christmas Fund. If you’re not in it, you can’t win it!
