Norah confirms, as has been extensively noted elsewhere, the Summer Soiree is on September 7th. See the Summer Soiree post for full details.
Great news regarding the injured club dogs in that, following examinations by the vet and the chiropractor, neither are as bad as was feared.
Norah reports Dessie (Droopys Design) is just very sore on the shoulder and a month or so off will do the trick, whilst Gilbert (Ferdia Oscar) is in good shape and already over his knock.
It was a pretty successful week for the kennel with another high wins to runs ratio at graded level and a clutch of Open wins at Hove and Sittingbourne.
And welcome to our latest new member, Ray from Bognor. This man’s no fool and, seeking to further develop a longstanding and deep interest in greyhound racing, spotted the stonking value to be had as a member of the UK’s leading* club for greyhound racing enthusiasts.
Less than three weeks to go before the next Sales event at Hall Green on Sunday, September 1st. Many of the kennel and club runners enjoying a purple patch were acquired through the Sales over the past year or so.
Notwithstanding, and including Norahmac winners, a little birdie informs me that’ purchases through Brian Harrison’s ‘Combined Greyhound Sales’ won thirty races, including five Opens, in the seven days between August 4th and 11th. Many of those winners were bought for what could be considered very reasonable prices.

Lenny (Droopys Leonard) gets back onto the graded card with a run in the A5, from trap six, in the 6.11pm on Wednesday’s card. Lenny has been schooling and trialing over hurdles at Sittingbourne. This in preparation of the Kent track’s hope of putting on graded hurdle contests in the weeks ahead.
So until his call up for Central Park duties Lenny will be earning his corn back at Nevill Road. How will he cope with the switch back? He should be fit enough to do himself justice and may well be a much fresher dog.
The RPGTV card on Thursday comprises graded and Open fayre. The kennel is very well represented across all standards.
It’s a first, and gives further indication of the increased quantity and quality of the club portfolio, as we have two runners in the same Open race. The Sprint Open at 8.02pm has legend, Wendy (Hanover Lady), in trap one, and new-boy Gilbert (Ferdia Oscar) in trap five. Roseville Maeve (very useful at her best and on the comeback trail) in trap four adds further interest from the Norahmac kennel perspective.
Don’t all lump on the trio as they’ll be nothing to share!
Later on the card, Leah (Memories Leah) has a poke at a trial stakes for the upcoming Brighton Belle competition. Leah ran well at Sittingbourne on Sunday but couldn’t secure the inner from a rival who was trying to move out.
She was running on well at the end and seems in good heart. Berthed in the red jacket in the 10.11pm, it will be interesting to see if she can get into the mix over a distance that is short of her best.
It’s an early breakfast for Oscar (Lima Oscar) who gets the call up for the first, the A6 at 11.11am, on Friday’s card. Our May ’09 lad, wearing stripes, is probably showing his best ever form since campaigning at Nevill Road. This level, however, very much represents his upper tier of ability. Fingers crossed for another strong run.
Saturday’s sponsored card provides Lenny (Droopys Leonard) with another chance this week to pick up a purse before some hurdling. Boxed in stripes in the A5 at 9.57pm, our April ’10 lad will need to be sharper than Wednesday, tussling with some potentially useful novices in this heat.
There’s a Horse Outside in trap one, an A5 at 12.12pm, on Sunday’s card. The white and black looks likely to figure in the finish in a race which looks framed to give him a clear sight of the bunny. Kennelmate ‘Charley’ Darwin, in six, may give Horse most to think about but the club contender has his best chance for some time to grab gold.
To complete proceedings for the week the kennel has a decent squad heading to Central Park for Sittingbourne’s mixed card on Sunday. Norah has entered up Wendy (Hanover Lady) in a heat 2 at 9.20 of the Silver Salver Sprint competition. Our busy blue, berthed in two, will need to be on song to progress with first two qualifying for the £1,000 final.
