Review

Although we’re a couple light on club strength with Woody and Ellen not in action at the moment, those on duty did the club proud last week.

Wendy (Hanover Lady) came on the strength to ‘fill the gap’ in the early days at Wimbledon and it’s a great tribute to the Norahmac team and Wendy herself that she has now achieved a Greyhound Data rating of 107. This, following her very smart 16.35 (calculated) win on Racing Post TV last Thursday night.  Tipped by the tv pundits, and our very own Gary Maunders pre-race, our blue girl is an admirable standard bearer for us.

Journeyman Oscar (Lima Oscar) has been putting his best foot forward of late too – a double last week! His final stride victory (a career best clocking), in heat three of the £500 BAGS/SIS tournament for A5 graders on Friday, puts him in with a leading chance for Wednesday’s final.

So with BAGS of prize money finding it’s way into the Norahmac club coffers and membership strong, growing close to completion, we’ll be on the look-out soon for the next generation of club runners.  Norah will be looking for dogs that will be suited to the longer standard we get at Hove. With funds strong we can hope for top grade, Open class runners to compete alongside Lenny (Droopys Leonard) in the years ahead.

Social

Norah’s Summer Seaside Soiree is now only just around the corner.  Saturday evening – July 7th!!!

Meet and greet old friends and new, join in the norahmac racing club trophy race presentation,  buffet and prize raffle. And, throughout the evening, ‘cheer on’ club and kennel runners expected to feature on the night.

There’s free entry to our very own reserved area – The Sprinters Function Room on the ground floor.

Don’t miss out on our first big social at Hove – it’s sure to be great fun, following in the footsteps of our highly successful Plough Lane parties.

The event is free and we’re hoping to subsidise some of the expenses through the raffle.  All are welcome to bring along something toward the prizes.

Preview

Oscar (Lima Oscar) will benefit from a fanfare of expectation in his quest for the BAGS/SIS £500 prize – the highlight of Wednesday’s card at 3.48pm. It could be interesting as he’s in trap four – very unusual and it could cause trouble as he makes his way to the outside. This may leave the way for kennelmate Roseville Maeve (berthed in three) who likes a middle run.  Good luck to ‘Molly’ if Oscar doesn’t get his head in front, landing a three in the row to boot!

Thursday sees the club runners swing into Open race action for the Racing Post TV cameras (channel 231). The fully deserved and long awaited Open debut for Wendy (Hanover Lady) is in the maiden sprint  at 8.50pm. Back in the red box, she holds leading chances especially if she continues to trap in her current scintillating style. Main opposition could come from Guinness Jeff in four – and a saving forecast is proposed.

Horse Outside has an outside chance to make his presence felt in the following contest, a maiden open over the standard trip at 9.06pm. He’s up against some promising types but will have an edge on experience against some of his rivals. He’ll need to hold his pitch at the bend, running from trap three.

Exciting times in any event – get down to Hove on Thursday if you can. You might be on the receiving end of a trophy presentation if we get lucky!

Saturday’s evening card sees a quick return to the track for Oscar (Lima Oscar) in the A5 at 9.24pm. Sole wide seed and not the strongest heat in the grade, Oscar should make his presence felt.

It’s all eyes on Sittingbourne’s Sunday evening BAGS card as Lenny (Droopys Leonard) has a freshener around the Kent circuit in Heat Two of the Open Standard competition at 6.57pm. A tricky draw (in five)) and a ‘first look’ so hopefully he’ll have a safe run and strip keener for future Nevill Road sorties.
