Last week’s review

Well done to our, now, prolific winner Fleetwood Rocker (Woody) who was able to take his chance at Plough Lane after all. Thankfully, our blue was able to swerve his ‘reserve’ engagement at Romford last week.

Attendant club members and associates were able to avail themselves of some 11-4 early doors and he duly obliged at 2-1.  Woody, currently,  has few peers at A1 level and it’s mainly a question of a clear passage – so five runner events really bolster his chance and the absence of  a rival in trap four was a major benefit.

Our three year old avoided the worst of the traffic problems early on. Supporters had good reason to be confident on the turn for home with Woody on the heals of the leader, striding on to win ‘going away’ by two and three quarter lengths.

Wendy (Hanover Lady) did get a run last week but could not get going in the inside tacky ground which was a feature of the results that night, favouring outside runners.

Oscar (Lima Oscar) put in his usual valiant display up against A2 rivals, eventually taking third spot by a little under a fast diminishing length.

Preview

Buoyed from scoring her first 2012 Trainers’ Championship point at Hove last Thursday courtesy of French Blue’s success, and an over abundance of grade one runners for Wimbledon, Norah sends a full van down to the Sussex circuit this Thursday (12th).

At time of writing the Kennel has seven runners on a varied and interesting card. French Blue seeks a quick double and a number of the hopefuls are taking a look with reasonable chances.

The club is represented by Fleetwood Rocker (Woody) who contests the 10.26,  a 515 metre Open. Our in form lad did have decent runs there (a maiden Open win) before he joined the Burhill kennel. So with a distance more in keeping to his racing style than the Wimbledon standard, he takes his chance not entirely without hope.

In any event a decent run will secure further entries at the South Coast venue which should prove rewarding over the months ahead. For those not travelling south the race can be viewed via http://www.racingpost.com/greyhounds/tv.sd

The graded card at Wimbledon Friday has Wendy (Hanover Lady) taking her chance in an A2 (9.15pm). Boxed in red, let’s hope, for her chances, that the track bias is more favourable than last week. It’s not the toughest of A2’s and Wendy showed plenty of zip for much of  the race seven days ago. She’s fit and in with a shout.

Oscar (Lima Oscar) also contests A2 company thirty minutes later and, with the striped jacket, we can hope that the track bias still favours the outside! It’s a toughish ask for Oscar but he’s fit and well and in with a squeak.

Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) has an entry in the 10.00pm (A1) on Saturday and his participation must be in some doubt given his Hove outing for Thursday.

Horse Outside has a trial over the sprint distance at Wimbledon on Wednesday morning as he continues his return following his bout of sickness.
