Review and notes

Saturday night’s results showed a pretty distinct bias toward the inside runners but that statistic didn’t prevent Lenny (Droopys Leonard), boxed in his favoured stripes, steaming back to form, making mincemeat of A4 rivals. Hitting the clock at 30.00 (+.20) showed there was little fluke in the performance, and paid immediate dividends to giving our black lad a little space between his competitive efforts.

The kennel in general is swinging into it’s best form since the move to Nevill Road and spirits are running high.

That’s good news as the club and kennel are expected to feature on Racing Post Greyhound TV on Thursday. The club has Wendy (Hanover Lady) down as a reserve at the time of writing but, in any event, Norah has plenty of runners on the predominantly Open Race card. Feel free to e-mail in with views, comments, and Norahmac-related anecdotes!!!!

A few preliminary inquiries have put paid to any notion of an inter-track with Wimbledon – kennel strengths are not high around the country and it’s stretching it to have runners at Plough Lane given the commitments to the Hove contract.

We’re exploring the idea of an end of year (“It’s nearly Christmas”) dinner at Hove in the Sprinters function room in November.

 Preview

Club runners swing into action on Wednesday’s afternoon BAGS card, on what is forecast to be a wonderfully warm summer’s day – why not come on down.

Horse Outside gets back into the fray in the 4.27pm, an A4. Withdrawn off colour last week, our black and white went through his paces in a solo trial on Saturday evening and suffered no ill effects.  The frame of the race suggests it could get a little crowded on the inner at the first so Horse will need some luck in running to get into the medals in a heat that is overall well within his compass.

It takes some doing for a staying type to throw away a tidy two length back straight lead, but Oscar (Lima Oscar) was up to the task in his A6 last week!

Our May ’09 doesn’t have a particularly difficult task in a similar event that closes the card at 6.11pm and also gets a sole wide seeding. Probably best not to put too much money down. Given Oscar’s ‘laid back’ approach to competing  you may end up having to sing for your supper.

The brunch BAGS card on Sunday sees a surfeit of sundry selections in the late summer sunshine with a norahmac racing club triple header.  Get down there and cheer on our hounds!

Oscar (Lima Oscar) steps up to the plate for the A7 at 11.57am. Seven misses since his July 12th hit. Oscar, now down graded is almost the form choice and likely to get a lead from speedy kennel mate Ballymac Arron on his inside in five. If putting in his best Oscar would have the measure of these.

The 12.27pm, a D1, presents Wendy (Hanover Lady) an opportunity to return to the fray, having had a small lay-off for no particular reason.  Unfortunate not to get an airing in the Maiden Open on Thursday’s televised Open card, our blue girl gets a dream draw, from the red box with, unusually, four wide runners in the heat. The opposition is stiff enough but a clear run with some early pace will see Wendy go close.

The hat-trick hunt is completed with Lenny (Droopys Leonard) getting a little more respite from the grader with another stint in the A4 which closes the card at 1.58pm. The very useful kennel mate Molly (Roseville Maeve) will be sure to bustle up our black lad (featured on Racing Post TV on Thursday!).

Though the sole wide seed should help our black boy hold sway at the first bend. Raithby Rambler, in three, has caught a tartar up against the in form Droopys Reese in his last two runs and looks the main danger – 3-5-6 combo tricast looks a fair bet in this heat (Edit – Molly has been scratched, Lenny takes trap five – disregard the tricast tip – play the forecast 3-5 reversed instead).
