Wendy Trophy Triumph & thru to 21st
Review
Saturday night’s card proved the highlight for the club last week with Wendy (Hanover Lady) justifying favouritism with a scintillating win in her D1 contest. Our blue heroine looked to have every chance of reversing recent form with a couple of her rivals and duly obliged from a decent race make-up.
Great timing given a proper quota of club members in attendance at the Nevill Road stadium, savouring the oh so sweet sensation that is the pure pleasure of a podium presentation combined with the terrific taste of trophy triumph!
Earlier in the evening there was a hint of glory to come as our new girl, Leah (Memories Leah), put in an impressive 30.54, winning her three-handed trial by over six lengths.
That’s our March ’11’s first look over the standard at Hove and only her fourth run in her life over the standard distance either side of the Irish Sea.

Lenny (Droopys Leonard) kicks off the new week with a tilt at the A4 on Wednesday’s BAGS card at 4.27. He’s sole wide in a fair heat that does not feature any world beaters. He’s sure to make his presence felt.
The very next contest on the card, an A7 at 4.47pm, has Oscar (Lima Oscar) taking to the Nevill Road sands. Last week’s effort was not too good but our black lad was pushed very wide early doors and could never recover his position. Hopefully he’ll be back for yet another podium position at the very least.
Saturday’s 8.34pm, A4, has Lenny (Droopys Leonard) taking his chance in a slightly less competitive heat than of late. Sole wide draw further increases his chance. He’s had plenty of racing and so long as that doesn’t impact he’ll have close to a favourite’s chance given how well he’s been retaining his form.
The A3 at 10.13pm has Horse Outside featuring in a rather hot heat from the blue box. Our September ’09 lad will need to be at his best to get into the medals but his most recent run was better than his finishing position suggests.
Sunday’s card has Oscar (Lima Oscar) getting a bite at an Owner’s Bonus cherry with a run in an A7 heat at 1.44pm. It’s a wide-open contest and our son of Balintore Brave need only put up his usual effort to gain a ‘first three’ placing which will get him through to the valuable final.
