Setting up a real climax for this inaugural club year, Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) wins his place in the valuable and prestigious John White Christmas Cracker Final at Wimbledon on Friday 23rd December.

Our heroic blue goes into the race with a leading chance having, yet again, shown considerable improvement to win his semi-final in 28.99 (calculated). That’s almost thirty spots speedier than his previous two wins.

Delighted to have Woody in the final, Norah has been ‘talking him up’ of late and feels a strong connection with the three year old given all his past trials and tribulations.

“He’s lost a toe and he’s got  a lump on his wrist from a couple of nasty injuries. He always does it the hard way and I’d love him to land this great ‘end of term’ prize. He really deserves it,” said an elated Norah on Saturday afternoon.

Our son of Droopys Maldini faces no less than three kennel mates in what should be a fantastic spectacle.

What a finale for the year. If you can join us on the night please make the effort – the louder the cheer the better! Win, lose or draw.

It’s fair to say that it took a while for the club to get onto it’s feet but the second half of the year has proved tremendous fun with fifteen wins, averaging one a fortnight, trophies galore and top class wins becoming more frequent every week. It’s a reality that we will have two or three of the club runners competing at Open level when appropriate in the coming months.

Woody is clearly open class and likely to be even stronger over a slightly longer trip, Gino (Horse Outside) is an Open winner in waiting whilst Wendy (Hanover Lady) will be taking her chance over shorter distances when opportunities arise.

Oscar (Lima Oscar) has little to prove, is as game as they come, but likely to be kept to grading, being just short of pace at the very highest level.

For those members that haven’t taken advantage of Norah’s Christmas pressie don’t forget there’s a £50 discount for existing members signing up before December 31st for the March 2012 to February 2013 year. Post-dated cheque for February 2012, cheque or cash (£250) to Norah or Dave Staddon secures the discount.

New members get fourteen months for the price of twelve if they join (paying £300) by December 31st. So spread the word or consider club membership as a Christmas gift perhaps?

It’s the best deal in greyhound racing ownership and that’s pretty much proven a fact now – so don’t miss out, membership is limited to just fifty.
